During the summer of 1948 the Thelen’s Family comes to visit San Carlos de Bariloche, a small town on those days that was called “The Swiss Argentina”. They instantly fall in love with this beautiful place and the following year they decide to move in. On January 6 1951, the first stage of Tres Reyes Hotel is opened. Two years later the second one is given its current shape.
It hosted famous guests such as the King of Belgium Baldwino I, the Sha of Persia, Reza Pahlevi and his wife, Richard Llewellyn (author of “Cuan Verde Era Mi Valle”), Theodore Roosevelt Jr. and actor Fidel Pintos.
It was the stage to numerous pictures of our national film industry. In 1952, it was carried out at the Hotel the celebration of Queen Elizabeth II ‘s coronation organized by the local British community.
