Experience the full explosion and excitement that is the thrill of white water rafting! The route is scenic and the ride is exhilarating. The vegetation will surround you, while the raw unbridled power of the waters will transport you into a great wild adventure.

You will be transported to the Operation Center in Turrialba, where you’ll enjoy a traditional Costa Rican breakfast buffet. After breakfast and changing into rafting gear, you will be driven to Ríos Tropicales private rafting put-in on the banks of the Pacuare River.

Here, a certified rafting guide will outfit you with all necessary equipment, give you a comprehensive rafting safety talk, and instruct you on paddling basics. Then, you and your group will launch your raft and begin to paddle deep into the heart of one of Costa Rica’s most impressive primary rainforests, when you’ll raft through 19 miles of Class III-IV whitewater. Cascading waterfalls, lush forests, exotic plants, birds and other animals, and exciting rapids make this a tropical adventure packed with rich experiences that you’ll remember forever.

At the end of your rafting trip, you’ll return to the Operation Center for a delicious hot lunch, and time to shower and change clothes before heading back to San Jose.

  • Sun hat or bandana
  • Rubber-soled shoes that can get wet (Tevas, tennis shoes, booties, or similar)
  • Swimsuit/swim trunks

  • T-shirt and shorts of a quick-drying material. Long sleeve t-shirts are very useful if you get cold easily on the water or want more sun protection
  • Repellent
