On our Sacred Valley Tour, you’ll be picked up at your hotel early in the morning and head out on a drive to the Urubamba Valley.
Sacred Valley Tour Description:
In the Sacred Valley of the Incas, you’ll visit the monuments around Pisac and the picturesque Pisac market. This is the shopping paradise of the Andes, where bartering is still practiced. Enjoy the unique atmosphere and take a break for a typical lunch.
In the afternoon, you’ll pass through the towns of Calca and Urubamba and visit the Inca fortress and citadel at Ollantaytambo.
The fortress was built to guard the entrance to this part of the valley and protect it from possible invasion from the tribes in the lower jungle.
Take a walk along the quaint streets of the town and get a good idea of what the strategic military, religious, and agricultural center was like during the days of the Inca empire.
On your way back to Cusco, time permitting, you’ll stop in the picturesque Andean Village of Chinchero to visit the ruins of the Royal Hacienda of Tupac Inca Yupanqui.
See the well-preserved wall in the main square and the colonial-era temple built on Inca foundations, with frescoes in the portico.
You’ll return to your hotel at around 18:40. Your guide will be happy to make some suggestions on how to spend your evening.
You might like to take a leisurely walk around the main square and stop to enjoy delicious pisco sour in one of the many pubs in the area.
