TYPES OF RIO CARNIVAL TICKETS

rio carnival tickets sections

Grandstands / Bleachers

The grandstands (also called bleachers) are the most popular and lively sections at the Sambadrome. These are elevated concrete seating areas that offer a panoramic view of the entire parade.

Most bleacher sections are first-come, first-served seating, meaning seats are not assigned — except for Section 9, which offers guaranteed seating.

This is where locals go. Expect nonstop energy, dancing, singing, and a true Brazilian Carnival atmosphere.

TGW Recommendation:
Section 9 Bleachers – Assigned seats, less scrambling to find seats. This section also has multi-language speaking guides.

Why this section?
The judges’ booths are located close to Section 9. Since Carnival is a competition, samba schools perform their best choreography right here.

Frisas / Open Boxes

Frisas are open-air boxes located at ground level, placing you incredibly close to the performers. Think of them as courtside seats — you see every detail, every costume, every drumbeat. Each box seats up to six people and is arranged in rows (A through D), with elevated seating to ensure clear views.

TGW Recommendation:
Section 9 Frisas

Why?
Section 9 Frisas offer better infrastructure, easier transfer access, and a more comfortable, less crowded experience. This option is ideal for travelers who prefer personal space, older guests, or anyone with mobility concerns.

Camarotes / Closed Boxes

Camarotes are designed for travelers who prioritize the party atmosphere over uninterrupted parade viewing. These are enclosed or semi-enclosed boxes located along the Sambadrome that function more like an upscale Carnival lounge than traditional seating. Parade viewing is secondary to the social and entertainment experience in this section

Camarotes include their own entertainment, such as DJs and live performances, along with food and drinks provided throughout the night. The crowd tends to be stylish, social, and high-energy, as camarotes are among the most expensive Carnival ticket options.

While you can watch the parade from a camarote, visibility may be limited during peak moments, especially when the space fills up. Guests who want a clear view typically need to stay near the front of the box for extended periods.

TGW Recommendation:
Best for travelers who want to party all night, enjoy premium food and drinks, and soak in the social side of Carnival — with parade viewing as a bonus, not the main focus.

Why choose a Camarote?
You’re getting a high-end Carnival experience with comfort, entertainment, and an energetic crowd, rather than a seated, parade-focused experience.

For guests whose top priority is uninterrupted parade viewing, TGW recommends Bleachers or Frisas instead.

WHICH RIO CARNIVAL TICKET IS BEST FOR YOU?

There’s no “wrong” choice — only the right choice for your style:

• Want energy and authenticity? → Bleachers
• Want comfort and close-up views? → Frisas
• Want a full party experience? → Camarotes

Availability is limited, and popular sections sell out first.

If you’re unsure which option fits your travel style, our team is happy to help guide you.
