Inca Trail Peru Package Sample Itinerary

Day 1 (Lima): Arrival in Lima, meet and greet at the airport, transfer to the hotel. Overnight stay in Lima.
Day 2 (Lima – Cuzco): In the morning, we will have a tour through Lima’s streets and plazas. The highlights of the tour include the “Parque del Amor”, Huaca Pucllana, Lima’s Main Square where the Government Palace & Town Hall are located as well as the Cathedral and the Santo Domingo Convent. In the afternoon, you will be picked up for your flight to Cuzco. When you arrive in Cuzco, there will be a driver there to take you to your hotel. Night at Leisure.
Day 3 (Cuzco): Morning at Leisure. In the afternoon, you will be picked up for your Cuzco Tour. The highlights of the tour include the Cusco Cathedral in the Plaza de Armas and the fabulous Temple of the Sun or Qoricancha, which was the heart of the Inca Empire. You will also visit the spectacular ruins of the Sacsayhuaman fortress/temple overlooking the city, as well as the ruins of Q’enko, Puka Pukara, and Tambomachay nearby.
Day 4 (Cuzco – Inca Trail): Our adventure begins between 6:00 and 6:20 am, your guide will pick you at your hotel. It will be a 3-hour trip to KM 82, including a stop in Ollantaytambo for some shopping or breakfast. On the way we will have a view of the communities that are part of the Sacred Valley; Chinchero, Maras, Urubamba and Ollantaytambo. We will arrive at Km 82 approximately at 9:30 am, in this place we will meet the team that will accompany us during our trek (porters, cooks and the travel coordinator). The hike will highlight the beautiful snow-capped La Verónica a and visit the archaeological group of Patallacta. After an hour of hiking, we will arrive to Tarayoc here we will have lunch and we will be able to recover forces to continue until 3000 m.s.n.m, Wayllabamba, place where we will camp.
Day 5 (Inca Trail): The day starts with a delicious breakfast, then we start our trek direct to the Abra of Warmi Huañuska at
4,200 masl, the most complicated section of the route. We ascend gradually from 3,000 masl, making stops to rest and receive explanations from the guide about the Flora and Fauna of the area. ¡It will certainly be a great adventure! We will arrive at the top around 1:00 pm, we will make a little rest and we will continue the way of descent until arriving at our camp Pacaymayu 3,600 masl.
Day 6 (Inca Trail): We will start our trek after a delicious breakfast. Today we will cover 16 km of trail for about 8 to 9 hours. On the way we will see different archeological centers and more than 100 varieties of orchids, as well as wildlife. We will pass through two Inca tunnels, descend for more than 3 thousand stone steps, and walk through the original Inca sites. We will arrive at our camp around 4:30 pm to 5:00 pm to have dinner and rest for the next day.
Day 7 (Inca Trail – Machu Picchu – Cusco): Only two hours separates us from arriving at Machu Picchu,, we will wake up very early to continue our route. We will line up at the checkpoint and continue along a narrow road until we reach the Inti Punku (The Sun Gate), a tall and enigmatic place where we will see the majestic horizon of Machu Picchu, from here you can take the photo postcard. The guide will give a short introduction of the history of Machu Picchu and then continue until arriving at the Inca citadel. At approximately 8:00 am, the tour will begin, lasting about 2.5 hours, then you will have some free time to explore Machu Picchu on your own. At the end we will descend to the town where you will have lunch in a local restaurant. Afterwards, board the Vistadome train that will transport us to the city of Cusco. When you arrive in Cusco, you will be taken to your hotel.
Day 8 (End of Tour): The adventure has ended and your driver will pick you up about 2 to 3 hours prior to your flight.
