Hungary’s two million resident capital city is located in Central Europe on the Danube River and is known as the “Paris of the East” or “Pearl of the Danube”.  It is a mix between a story book and history book with ancient history and architecture dating back from the Romans to the Turkish Ottoman Empire to Renaissance Castles. The city has been shaped by a multitude of cultures and events in history from the middle ages to the world wars and is a unique place to see.

The city of Budapest or “BudaPESHT” as the locals pronounce it, is divided into two sides – the “Buda” and the “Pest” sides – each on one side of the breathtaking Danube river.  Each was a town that later became the greater “Budapest” city – one of central Europe’s most important. On the left-hand side of the river, are the three major attractions are the Castle District, the Citadel, and Gellert Hill.

Besides incredible architecture Budapest features incredible nightlife, good food and hot springs. The city offers dozens of different thermal baths catering to everything from ultimate relaxation to literal clubs and parties. Foodies will not be disappointed in Hungary. Its world famous “goulash” and dishes are sprinkled with paprika and other exotic spices for an unique taste.

Budapest Sample Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrive in majestic Budapest at any time of the day. A driver will pick you up at the airport and take you to your hotel. Balance of your evening free to enjoy the nightlife or amazing restaurants or “ruin bars” the city has to offer.

Day 2 –  After a breakfast at your hotel, meet the tour company to begin your  Budapest Hop On -Off Tour.  This comprehensive tour is the ideal way to discover Budapest for the first time in one quick day.  Check out  panoramic views of spectacular Heroes’ Square,  elegant Andrassy Avenue and the magnificent Parliament building.  Hop off to explore Margaret Island, the old Castle District, and discover Budapest’s hidden gems. The tour has three different routes both a red and a blue route that cover different parts of the city as well as a boat river tour of the  Danube.Evening free to perhaps try some goulash!

Day 3 – Breakfast at the hotel followed by a relaxing day at  Szecgebtu Thermal Baths.  Budapest is known as the “city of spas” with over 100 thermal springs to choose from.These baths, or “fürdok” in Hungarian, are heated by natural thermal springs and usually include on-spa services, locker/changing rooms, restaurants, bars as well as steam rooms. The largest spa in the city and in all of Europe is the world famous Budapest Széchenyi Thermal Baths.  It was Built in 1913 and features 18 pools to choose from. Its water is supplied by two thermal springs, their temperature is  165 °F and  171 °F. Components of the thermal water include sulfate, calcium, magnesium, bicarbonate and a significant amount of metaboric acid and fluoride. The baths are a great for people of all ages to spend a long relaxing afternoon, morning or evening and will be one of your Budapest bucket list experiences.

Day 4 – Today is a day to enjoy Budapest , either to indulge in another thermal bath visit, do some local shopping or take part in an optional Budapest Bike Tour.

Day 5 – A driver will pick you up 2 to 3 hours before your flight and take you to the airport.
