Sample Itinerary: Machu Picchu Peru Package
Day 1 – Arrive in Lima
Arrive in Lima, Peru’s capital city. Depending on your flight arrival time, you may have the afternoon at leisure or begin with a guided city tour of Lima, including highlights such as the historic center, Plaza Mayor, the Government Palace, the Cathedral, and colonial landmarks. Overnight in Lima.
Day 2 – Fly to Cusco
Transfer to Lima Airport for your flight to Cusco. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is free to relax, explore at your own pace, and acclimate to the altitude. Overnight in Cusco.
Day 3 – Cusco City Tour & Nearby Ruins
Enjoy a guided tour of Cusco, once the capital of the Inca Empire. Visit important cultural and archaeological sites such as the Cusco Cathedral, Plaza de Armas, Qoricancha Temple, Sacsayhuamán, Q’enqo, Puka Pukara, and Tambomachay. Overnight in Cusco.
Day 4 – Sacred Valley Tour
Depart for a full-day tour of the Sacred Valley. Visit the town and market of Pisac, enjoy lunch near Urubamba, and continue to Ollantaytambo, one of the most impressive Inca fortress sites in Peru. Return to Cusco in the afternoon or evening. Overnight in Cusco.
Day 5 – Machu Picchu Tour by Train
Early in the morning, travel by Vistadome or similar train service toward Machu Picchu. Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, take the shuttle bus up to the citadel, where your guide will lead you through the most important areas of Machu Picchu, including temples, terraces, plazas, and scenic viewpoints. After the tour, enjoy time in Aguas Calientes before returning by train and transferring back to your hotel in Cusco. Overnight in Cusco.
Day 6 – Depart Cusco or Continue Your Trip
Transfer to Cusco Airport for your flight home or continue to your next TGW destination. Additional nights, upgraded hotels, domestic flights, and extensions to other Peru or South America destinations can be added upon request.
