Rio Carnival Travel Packages

Overview

Rio de Janeiro Carnival is one of the world’s most iconic events, and experiencing it properly requires planning, local knowledge, and the right support. Our Rio Carnival travel packages are designed for travelers who want a no-hassle Carnival experience, with every major detail handled from start to finish.

TGW Travel Group has been offering Rio Carnival travel packages since 2004 and has staff in Rio de Janeiro. This allows us to provide reliable on-the-ground support and ensure your Carnival trip runs smoothly before, during, and after the event.

Our Rio Carnival travel packages include hotel accommodations in Rio’s best areas, airport transfers, guided experiences, optional tickets to all Sambadrome parade sections (Grandstands, Frisas, and VIP Camarotes), access to top Carnival events, and 24/7 local staff support. We can also customize packages to include flights and additional tours.

Rio Carnival travel packages are fully customizable. If nightlife isn’t your priority, party access can be replaced with Sambadrome parade tickets or additional sightseeing tours. If you’d like to explore beyond Rio, we can also add destinations throughout South America.

In addition to the main events, our itineraries include free time so you can enjoy Rio’s famous street parties, beaches, shopping, and cultural highlights—while traveling alongside people from around the world who are there for the same unforgettable experience.

Sample Itinerary

🗓️ Sample Rio Carnival Travel Packages Itinerary

This sample itinerary shows how a typical Rio Carnival week is structured when traveling with local support. Final schedules may vary based on selected events, Sambadrome ticket availability, and individual preferences.

Day 1 : Thursday: Depart on an overnight flight to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Day 2:  Friday:  Arrive in Rio de Janeiro, where you’ll be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel for check-in. The afternoon is at leisure to relax after your flight.

For guests with Sambadrome parade tickets included or added to their package, tickets will be distributed at a nearby location. In the evening, transportation is provided to one of Rio’s top Carnival parties. This first night is a great opportunity to meet fellow travelers and our local TGW staff based in Rio.

Day 3:  Saturday: In the morning, you’ll be picked up for a half-day guided city tour, including a visit to the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue. The tour lasts approximately four hours, depending on traffic conditions. In the evening, we offer an optional group reservation at one of Rio’s top steakhouses for those who wish to dine together.

Day 4: Sunday: The day is free to enjoy Rio at your own pace. An optional Sugarloaf Mountain is recommended for the morning. Today is the first night of the official Samba Parade competition. You can choose whether you go there on Sunday or Monday. For clients that have a free night, we will offer an additional party or a Dinner Show.

Day 5: Monday: Spend the day at leisure exploring the city or enjoying additional beach time. Optional excursions such as hang gliding or a Tijuca Forest Jeep Tour can be added. Monday evening is the night we typically recommend attending the Sambadrome parade, allowing guests to see the winning samba school from the previous year’s competition.

Day 6 : Tuesday: After a late night at the Sambadrome, enjoy a relaxed morning. In the afternoon, transportation is provided to a traditional Brazilian Feijoada party at one of Rio’s top venues. This iconic Fat Tuesday celebration is a favorite way to close out Carnival, hosted by one of Rio’s most popular local promoters.

Day 7: Wednesday: Approximately 3–4 hours before your flight, you’ll be picked up from your hotel and transferred to the airport for your departure. End of tour.

FAQ
When Is Rio Carnival 2027?

Rio Carnival 2027 will take place from February 5 – February 10, 2027, with the main Samba School Parades happening on Sunday and Monday nights at the Sambadrome. Many travelers arrive a few days early to enjoy pre-Carnival events, beach time, and the famous Rio street celebrations before the main parade nights.

Why Should I Book My Rio Carnival Package Early?

Rio Carnival is the biggest event in Brazil and hotels sell out quickly, especially the properties in the best, recommended areas. Booking early allows us to secure the best hotel options and rates before prices increase closer to Carnival. Booking early also guarantees a better payment plan.

Many of our guests book 8–10 months in advance to guarantee availability.

Is This a Group Trip or Can I Travel Independently?

Our Rio Carnival packages are designed as hosted group experiences, but guests are free to explore Rio at their own pace. We organize key activities, events, and assistance throughout the week while leaving plenty of free time for guests to enjoy the city on their own.

This combination gives travelers the benefit of local support without feeling like they are on a rigid tour schedule. If you prefer a fully customized private Rio Carnival trip, we can also design a private package based on your travel style, hotel preferences, and activities.

What Is Included in the Rio Carnival Travel Package?

Our Rio Carnival travel packages typically include hotel accommodations, airport transfers, select events and parties, organized activities, and on-the-ground support from the TGW team throughout the trip.

Sambadrome parade tickets are optional and added once official allocations become available.

Why Sambadrome Tickets Are Not Included by Default

Sambadrome parade tickets are released later in the year, typically between July and August. Since we begin offering our Rio Carnival travel packages as early as March or April, Sambadrome tickets are added separately once official allocations become available.

This allows us to secure hotel availability and key logistics early while giving guests the flexibility to choose their preferred Sambadrome experience once tickets are released.

When tickets become available, we provide several seating options including Grandstands (bleachers), Frisas (front-row open box seats), and Camarotes (hospitality suites).

Once we receive our official ticket inventory, pricing is included in your quote and tickets are offered exclusively to clients who book their Rio Carnival travel package with TGW Travel Group. Some websites list Sambadrome ticket prices months in advance, but these are often estimated since official ticket allocations and final pricing are typically not confirmed until mid-year.

Is Rio Safe during Carnival?

Rio is generally safe during Carnival when travelers take normal precautions and stay in the main tourist areas. Booking through TGW Travel Group also provides an added layer of support, as our team and local partners assist guests with logistics, transportation, and recommendations throughout the trip.

Many of our events and activities are organized with the group so guests can enjoy Carnival with experienced hosts and local guidance. We also offer a 24/7 Emergency Support Line during the week.
